New 6X & Chrosiel Follow Focus

Does anyone know if Chrosiel has a new Ring Gear that fits the 6X for their Follow Focus system?

Good question -- have we determined what that diameter actually is?

When I ordered my lens from Christine @ ZGC (highly recommended, by the way), she told me that she talked to Chrosziel and they said a focus ring is in the works, probably not available till February..

That's interesting, it doesn't say the gear pitch, but I would assume standard cine (which is the same as the Chrosziel 20x gear, but different than the integral gear on the 16x)...

Are you using it?

My only concern would be that the focus collar on cine and video manual lenses (for which this is designed) don't rotate more than 360 degrees, and the start and stop is always in the same place - so if there is a rough spot where the two ends of the strap meet, you can customize the fit so the FF unit will miss it...

These AF lenses (I don't have the WA yet, speaking of the 20x) tend to rotate more than 360 and, because they are AF, the start and stop points aren't in the same place from shot to shot - so if there is a rough spot, it will be difficult to miss...

If you're lucky, the diameter of the lens will be exactly the distance of the cut gear strap, from tooth top to tooth top, if not there will be a noticeable glitch area.

(all of this would mean, by the way, cementing the strap to the lens barrel rather than using the clamp in the photo)...

Might be safer to wait for the Chrosziel, or have a custom gear made (it's not rocket science)...

The manual focus ring on the lens is about 106 - 108 mm diameter and have a 340 mm circumference. I think that the Zacuto Zipgear has a 0.8 pitch.
