Scan Mode In Xl1s
I`ve just recieved a long awaited XL1s and am trying out all the new features that are not on the XL1 that I have enjoyed for the last 4 years. I cant seem to get the scan feature to function....I have followed the instructions on page 72 of the manual, but I cant seem to bring up the scan feature, which is in magenta whiile the other opions are highlighted in cyan(somepeople call it blue) I`m told to select the clear scan by pressing the up shutter button.....nothing hapens when I do this....I am in camera mode, manual....any help here from XL1 s users......another thing....the whining I was getting when using XLR mixes on the XL1 with battery power, does not happen with the new XL1 s.....so I put this down to a camera problem that I hope Canon will fix on the next service , which it needs to correct focus drift when zooming.........help on the "clear Scan " problem as I have a shoot involving shooting of PC monitors on the 19th Mach.....Thanks....sheps

Tv Mode Required
You must be in Tv mode (shutter priority) and then using the shutter buttons, adjust speed up until CS is displayed. Then Clear Scan will be enabled on the menu.
I had the same problem the first time I tried to use Clear Scan.

Question ED on page 72 is TV or M.
Did you ever try it in the M mode or did you try the M mode and it didn't work? |

Thanks ED, I must have been tired! I did not follow directions....the cs must be called up using the shutter up button BEFORE selecting clear scan from the Menu....also works as Canon says in M mode. I`m so far happy with the new features v/s the original XL1.

You are correct B. As shepsphoto states, it does work in Manual mode as well. Chris is going to disable my "Post Reply" button if I offer any more bad advice.

Clear scan in Canon XL1s not working
Hi
I got this back from Canon, so just thought I would post. Incident Number 2137376 Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding your Canon product. To enable the Clear Scan Mode, set the camcorder to TV or M exposure mode. Press the shutter (up) button. The Clear Scan mode will apear as an option after the fastest shutter speed. Once selected, the option in the menu will be available. Please also refer to page page 70 in the user guide. The important bit that is MISSING from the manual on page 70 is: "after the fastest shutter speed" Basically keep cranking upwards the shuttter speed until Clear Scan becomes an available menu option. Martin Here is a link to a page that contains a video I made using Clear Scan. Ok it was my first attempt and it is to white and you cant see the PC screens (going to redo the video) but as you can see NO screen flicker on the PCs. http://www.learningtotrade.com/trading_alerts.htm ======================= Search strings that I tried to find help on this issue Clear Scan not working Getting rid of flicker on PC screens Recording PC screens without flicker Clear scan menu item in red on canon XL1S |
