Sennheiser 416T with XL-1

I come from a film background and am used to double system audio.
I have a sennheiser 416 T microphone which I am loath to part with.
My XL-1 came with the M100 adapter, I would like to power the 416 from the camera is this possible?
Does anyone have experience they can share, Thanks.
Chris Owen.

The Canon MA-100 XLT adapter does not provide phantom power. Ther is no phantom power capability in the XL1. YOu will have to find an external source.

As I understand, Beachtek makes an adapter that fits between the camera and the tripod (connects to the camera, that is) that has phantom power. However, you'll need to check to determine if it provides the phantom-type power needed for T microphones.

Also, Rolls (and other manufacturers, I'm sure) makes a simple phantom power unit that does power the T models.

Thanks, I will follow up with Beachtek, however you mention Rolls may have a solution; who are Rolls were not familiar with that name down here?

Try the following link on musiciansfriend.com for the Rolls:

Also, I think the official Rolls manufacturer's site is Rolls.com.

They have several models.

I'm using a Samson Mixpad4 to mix and provide phantom power to my Senn mikes. You can get these for about 100 bucks on ebay, plus you get 3 stages of equalization and a few other great features. Power for the Mixpad4 comes from an AC convertor or three on-board 9v batteries.
