Hello folks,
just a short question - I would like to know at what initial price the XL1s has been introduced back in 2001. Anyone remembering? Best regards, Sebastian |

Per the press release in July 2001, MSRP was US$4699, but the intial street price was closer to US$3700.

Yep. I bought mine from Edirol in August 2001 for $3899.00.

It was Canon USA's intent to offer the XL1S at the same price as the original XL1. It was their dealer's intent to sell it for the same "street price" they'd been charging for the XL1.

I remember it was about 10 000 DM here in Germany, which compares to perhaps 4600 Dollars about that time...

That's right; as I said previously, the XL1 and XL1S had the same initial retail price when they were introduced (Jan '98 and July '01).
