other 3CCD cams and opinions....

....since 3CCD cams are somewhat still in their infancy and considering there aren't a 1000 models (yet) to chose from- what models have you guys tried and how'd you feel about them?

(this is the perfect time to get personal with observations)

(looking for insight on a smaller 3CCD cam as cam #2- especially interestd in the JVC Sreamcam and reported broadcast quality 700 line CCD's)

Fire away guys!!!!

3-CCD camcorders been around for a long time, 3-CCD consumer MiniDV camcorders been around about as long as MiniDV - starting with the VX1000.

But they are not as common as 1-CCD models - they tend to cost a lot more.

I use XL1 and GL1. Pleased with both. Have edited footage from VX2000, nice in good light but turns bluish under poor light. Also have used PD100 a but, also nice image but turns bluish in poor light, which I do not care for.

900/100a - about on par with the xl1S,

2000/150 - a bit sharper and better in the dark than the xl1S, might cause you to re-examine which is the primary cam.

Hi,

I've been using 3 chip cameras since the 80's and currently use an XL1 and XL1S. I've used the VX1000 for a feature and the VX2000 for a documentary. I didn't really care for either one. Mosty the handling or ergonomics just wasn't right for me. I did like the B&W viewfinder in the 2000. I guess i'll have to spring for the Canon one. I BIG factor for me is the ability to interchange lenses. I haven't shot with the JVC, but the 700 lines is not a big, useable feature.
