what is the use of the dc terminal at the back of the camera?

This is use for the MA-100 or MA-200

Speaking about the XL1 (the XL1s might be different) the DC power jack by the AV jacks on the handle is +5 VDC. It is intended to power the MA100 (and MA200), and can be used to power typical RFUs that provide Channel 3/4 RF output.

Its does not appear to have a significant current capacity for accessories that draw much power; e.g., video lights.
