So does the full screen overlay work in VISTA with ATI cards? That explanation from Nvidia made it sound as though Vista is restricting this feature from working as part of a plan to help protect content. If Vista as a whole does not support this full screen overlay, no matter which card you choose, then Cineform should consider writing their application differently. I currently use Adobe default presets most of the time when editing as I so much more felxibility on what screen I can output to. Plus the hardware overlay has always been a little flaky.

I realize this route was originally chosen as it was less resource intensive, but it seems that it is outliving it's usefulness.

Not to derail the thread further, but since Nvidia vs. ATi is being discussed I wanted to mention that I recently swopped to ATi to avoid the overlay color-shift being discussed here, and also to minimize the "black pause" between scrubbing and playback ( http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/cineform-...ack-pause.html ).

I was initially happy with the decision, until I realized I'd lost all hardware acceleration for Magic Bullet Colorista and Looks:
