I downloaded the beta for my home machine from the same link as all of you, so that is not it. You should have all these files in mediacore:

From my mediacore directory. Am I missing two files?

David Newman May 3rd, 2009 10:27 AM

Thanks Tim,

This is an error that makes sense. It seems that PHD and NHD where missing the exporter in their downloads (I was testing P4K.) I have refresh the Prospect HD and NEO HD links, so download again (it has the same name.)

I don't have the Exporter PRM in mine, on Windows Vista 64. Just did a fresh uninstall of 4.0.0 and install of 4.0.1. The CF installer does not appear to be working correctly on Vista 64, if David's screenshot is on XP.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt, read the previous post. This is not an XP/Vista issue, it is a PHD installer issue that was just fixed moments ago.

Matt Vanecek May 3rd, 2009 10:48 AM

Yeah, saw that after I posted. Problems in a multi-threaded environment, I guess, with simultaneous posts. At least you know your customers are vigilant!

Any reason why your download site consistently causes my virus scanner (NOD32) to complain about the download, while completing the download? The only way I can download the file is to turn off the virus scanner, which seems counter-productive. Something about the Packed.Themida virus. The only way to get the file is to turn off the virus scanner, download the file, and then scan it manually.

Thanks,
Matt

David Newman May 3rd, 2009 10:51 AM

We have had no report of Virus issues, and I also run Virus scan on downloads and I'm not seeing this. However, I will do a Virus scan on the build PC.

Matt Vanecek May 3rd, 2009 11:07 AM

It might be an Eset NOD32 thing, or maybe the download server is sending a strange header or something. If I turn off the virus scanner and download the file, and scan it manually, there is no virus reported. it is only while downloading the file with the scanner turned on. I know a couple others posted on the original importers downloads similar issue. It's most likely an oddity between the download server and NOD32, but I'd be interested if anyone with any other virus scanners have experienced similar issues.

Thanks,
Matt

ImporterProcessServer

The ImporterServer keeps crashing, and freezing PPro. It's happened when I'm cutting nested sequences where the source sequences have CFHD and additional audio. It's also happened when copying a clip from one sequence to another. Usually seems to involve copying/pasting. I have to kill PPro and restart. After reopening, everything seems to be working OK for a while.

Thanks,
Matt

And when rendering the timeline, too. This is pretty much unusable as-is.

Bruce Gruber May 3rd, 2009 12:11 PM

Thanks Dave I downloaded via refreshed link and it worked exporter is an option once again!! I am happy! I guess that fix did nothing for first light still crashing when trying to open.

Bruce Gruber May 3rd, 2009 01:05 PM

Now that I can select export to Cinefro.avi I have a project of just freshly cf captured clips. no transitions, or effect at all..( just testing) I select Cf .avi setting 720x480 wide NTS lower fields. the import server has crashed 2 times I am in the middle of the 3rd time. Aslo its telling me that its going to take 5 hours to export 45min??? I am running vista/64 quad core??

Bruce Gruber May 3rd, 2009 01:41 PM

PPCS4 crashes on timeline render too? no transition just straight CF.avi clips also did anyone notice the PP4 wants to generate the peak files everytime you reopen PP4 it almost like it can not handle the CF files.

Yeah, I've noticed that. It's really annoying. It doesn't happen on every clip, for me, but on a couple, that I've re-converted several times to see if that'll help.

The files that I've converted to CFHD using MPEG_Streamclip instead of HDLink do not exhibit this symptom.

Thanks,
Matt

I will have to try that. Right now I have recaptured clips using straight PP4 capture as an meg file. I am throwing it in a timeline and exporting using CF.avi to see if the adobe media encoder crashes using a native file format but converting using CF.

I see there were 1,2000 views on this thread.. Looks like a lot of people are intrested in the outcome.

Bruce Gruber May 3rd, 2009 05:11 PM

Ok after importing from tape to PPCS4 as standard HDV 108060i I exported using Cineform.av setting 720v480 lowerthird NTSC/wide it exported fine. The I imported to Encore CS4 and went to transcode to DVD and encore crashed. I tried 3 times and it crashed every time. It almost like CS4 does not know the CF file>

I noticed that when you export using CF.avi and set your setting to 720v480 lowerthird NTSC/wide It actually out put a squeezed 4x3 video file?

Has anyone been able to get a time line all they way thru.

Gil Reitsma May 3rd, 2009 06:39 PM

Hi guys

In CS4 do we now export thru Adobe Media Encoder?

Tim Bickford May 3rd, 2009 07:17 PM

Has anyone using Vista 64 been able to get First Light to work?

Gil Reitsma May 3rd, 2009 08:58 PM

Using Vista 64 and no go.

Bruce Gruber May 4th, 2009 02:54 AM

Hi Gil, yes you use the adobe media encoder you do a export to media then the media encoder will open. And there is where you select cinefom.avi or mov the set you settings. I hope it works for you.

No first light either vista/64

Gary Brun May 4th, 2009 05:51 AM

I can not use firstlight with vista64 Ultimate.
My computer is i7 920, 12gigDDR3 x1600mhz.
I also have no presets in media encoder.

Also was just capturing with HDlink... and my computer restarted for no reason.
Will check the boot logs and come back with more info.

Bruce Gruber May 4th, 2009 06:37 AM

HI Gary you need to redown load the beta the first one was missing the exporter. Good luck getting it to work I have not gotten any clips all the way thru

Gary Brun May 4th, 2009 07:36 AM

Thanks.
Ill try and let you know how I get on.

Gary Brun May 4th, 2009 08:10 AM

HI Bruce.
My files are captured with HDLink High Quality from my Z1 and converted to CHFD.
Export settings are..
Cineform 1440x 1080 29.97fps 1.33333 PAR

All cinefrom transition and color correction presets work for me too as I did a try of them all.

Oh so your not converting to SD 720x480 wide? What encoder are you going to use Encore?try out putting to SD 720x480 Ntsc wide Lowerthirds!

Marty Hudzik May 4th, 2009 12:26 PM

So any new updates on this? It seems to me that there are enough issues occuring for many users that I should avoid this particular release unless someone tells me otherwise.
I'd love to try it but cannot afford more headaches troubleshooting more issues.

The full release of prospect 3 was giving me errors importing .m2t files in CS3.

The beta of 4.0 seemed to have fixed that but now I cannot import DV Avi files into CS3.

I was hoping the new beta would fix that but hearing horror stories of people crashing premiere every other mouse click is really giving me reason to hesitate. Any ideas?

Tim Bucklin May 4th, 2009 03:53 PM

For those of you with First Light troubles (CLR20r3 error) please email me so we can troubleshoot and get it working for you!

Thanks

Craig Irving May 4th, 2009 03:56 PM

Will you help me troubleshoot even if I'm using Windows 7?

I actually tried installing the .NET Framework and it didn't even seem to install, assumingly because it's pre-loaded into Windows 7 but I'm unsure.

Glenn Babcock May 4th, 2009 04:31 PM

Craig,

.NET Framework 3.5.1 is installed with Windows 7. Navigate "Programs and Features", then select "Turn Windows features on or off". You'll see it listed there.

Regards,
Glenn

Seems I might be upgrading from Neo to Prospect HD! Need to check the presets fix the jerky issue though.

PC isnt slow though!

Quad Core 2.1 AMD
4GB ECC memory (Another 4GB on order)
150GB 10k RPM SATA OS
2*400GB 7.2k RPM SATAs RAID 0 - Media files
750GB 7.2k SATA scratch disc

Gil Reitsma May 4th, 2009 05:15 PM

Hi guys

Need some advice... Since the PC I use to for CS3 & 4 is a dual prossessor, thought I would go out today and buy another PC. I then also then have a fresh install of all software that I hope will solve my Prospect HD drama, becuase I cannot even use the export. All I can do is use HDlink.

What middle of the road system should I get including graphics card?

Thanks

Gil

Bruce Gruber May 4th, 2009 05:55 PM

Hi Gil, it might not be your system. I just had a brand new system built by my neighbor he has been in the business for 14 years. I have 2tb 32m buffer hard drives raid 0 for capture and storage. I have a 1tb 32mb for OS and I have 1tb Scratch disc and a 1tb disc to output media all 32mbffers. I have a quad core 3.0mh. 1 DVD burner built in with a brand new LG external blu-ray burner. I am using a radeon HD video card ca’t remember the series but it was only about $100.

I had a fresh install of XP 32bit and had some trouble with CS3 with Prospect HD 3.2.?? Then I saw they were ready to release the beta 4.0 for CS4 final I think this week. So I bought CS4 production premium suite and had my neighbor give me a fresh install if Vista 64bit. So now we are talkling about over $2000.00 dollars in software and hardware.

My hole goal is to be able to offer my clients both Blu-ray and SD DVD. Cineform has the best compressor for outputting to standard DVD I did get 1 DVD output on my old system. And it looked almost as good as the BD or the same wedding. Now after installing the beta I can not get a CF project thru PPcs4 and into Encore and out of Encore in SD or standard DVD

Adobe does a fine job of outputting to blu-ray I do not need to use CF for that I need it to compress down to SD.

First the playback settings are not there so I can not tweek the playback of the video in my time line to keep it from being jerky, no problem I can live with that.

Next when I try to compress to Cineform.AVI 720x480 NTSC wide lower thirds. PPCS4 stops responding ImporterServer keeps crashing and if I manage to get a small time line output to CF.avi when I go to transcode in Encore encore stopps working. I see a lot of people are having the same issue in this post.

Then there is then there is firstlight looks pretty cool but I do not need that right now and I hope it does get working but I think CF has 2 sets of clients one set that wants the excellent power of their compression and the other set that needs the color correction capabilities.. I am sorry for such a long post but I have spent 30 some hours and was late for work this morning trying to get this to work.

Gil Reitsma May 4th, 2009 06:29 PM

Hi Bruce

It must be very frustrating if it is your business.

Problem with updating to the beta version is it doesn't even work for me in CS3 and I cannot for some reason get back to the old version

So I have tried "MainConcept™ MPEG Pro™ HD" it works great in CS3 and the final product seems on par with cineform. Its not available yet to run CS4

Gil

Tim Bickford May 4th, 2009 07:18 PM

Well I got First Light up and running. However, that's about all it's doing. I imported a cineform AVI. I get nothing on playback.

How is everyone else doing?

Jay Bloomfield May 4th, 2009 08:09 PM

On Vista x64 systems, the HD installers (NEO, Prospect) do not create the LUTs folder under c:\Windows\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Cineform\Tools. Create this folder and FL will run, although not perfectly (at least for me). Cineform is supposedly working on uploading a revised installer that fixes the "missing LUT" issue.

Glenn Babcock May 4th, 2009 08:17 PM

Also, make sure that User Account Control is off. That and creating the missing LUTs directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CineForm\LUTs) fixed it for me on Window 7 64-bit. Should be the same in Vista.

Once you start it look in the upper left corner under Database, Current. If there is not an entry there (e.g., "DB") then click New and create it. That should create a new directory under "LUTs" with the name of the database.

BTW, this program is AMAZING!!! So much fun to play with the settings while the video runs smoothly.

Regards,
Glenn
