Cineform at (SONY) NAB question
Hello,
There's a line item on the Cineform website about NAB: "SU6406 (Sony) Aspect HD: 24P workflow from CineFrame 25 source" Any additional information on this? Sorry if the question's been asked and answered before, I don't recall any such thread. Thanks, Ron Nakano |

As has been discussed in various threads, Sony's Cineframe-24 mode doesn't properly sample the frames during capture to allow perfect 24p reproduction after deinterlacing because the temporal distance between all frames is not identical.
In Cineframe-25 mode the temporal distance is identical except the material is running 4% too fast for our desired 24p workflows. A technique that has long been used is to slow down the frames by 4% to yield a 24p workflow, plus remodulating audio so it doesn't suffer pitch change (and remains in sync). In our next release of Aspect HD we'll include proper CF25-to-24p conversion during capture to allow you to work in a 24p timeline. We'll be demonstrating this at NAB in the Sony booth. |
