Neo4K NeoHD Neo
I am a little confused right now.
I'd like to upgrade from NeoHD Ver.4 to Neo4K. But all I can find is a little misleading. On the Cineform website there seam to be no more sign of Neo4K or NeoHD just Neo. In the description it says that Neo goes up to 4K. If i hit buy I can choose between Neo3D and NeoHD. When I hit more info under NeoHD I get back to the NEO only page. Question: What will I get when I upgrade to NEO? HD or 4K? Please enlighten me. Peter |

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
Sorry Peter, I don't have your answer, but now I'm curious. Does this new "Neo" version have CineForm alpha channel support? Is there an upgrade path from NeoHD v.5 for a reasonable price? (just want the alpha channel, don't need 3D!)

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
I think they combined NeoHd and 4k together and lowered the price to $299. If that's the case it's great. Probably means that existing Neo HD are getting 444 and 444A encoding. I would hold off before buying until they update the website or reply here.

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
Martin,
Yes it is a good time to buy, the press release went out today. http://www.cineform.com/pdfs/CF_Cine...nce_vFINAL.pdf The products have shifted in price ahead of their upcoming name change. There is no risk in purchasing now, as the existing Neo and Neo 3D products will simply be updated to CineForm Studio Premium and CineForm Studio Professional in a few weeks time.

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
That's great news David. Since I already own NeoHD it means i now get 444 and 4444 encoding very happy.
Do we need to submit serial information on the website to get the new Neo? How does it work? |

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
I personally don't really understand it. I guess as a $999 Neo4K v.5 customer I get a "free upgrade" to the $299 Cineform Studio Premium, but not a free upgrade to the $999 Cineform Studio Professional?

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
After doing some searching around this could be the case.
Upgrade from Neo4k to Neo3D for around $250 a saving of $749 I understand that the company takeovers allows more value for the customer... hence cheaper prices. Thats just business and my software has paid for itself. I own 3 $1000+ licences... where do I go next?

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
I can understand the price dropping, its great for everyone that it has become more affordable. I didn't buy Cineform recently so I'm not feeling the sting so much as others may be. I also have no interest or need for Neo3D. But it would be nice if their licensing included 1 Mac and 1 PC. Rather than 2 PCs. I find it really convenient to use my Mac laptop for some projects and my Desktop PC for others. I think that flexibility would make a lot of users happy, but I'm not sure how feasible it is. I didnt see anything in that press release about cross/platform solutions though.

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
I know that NeoHD customers are automatically upgraded but... what benefit can a DSLR shooter gain from the move to Neo4K ?

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
While most will not need greater than HD and 4:4:4, having alpha channels is beneficial to DSLR shooter as the Alexa customer. There are no longer arbitrary limitations applied to the code in the pro level tools.

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
David - just a quick question; is Neo able to work with MXF files (@ 50mbs as created by a nanoflash recorder)?

Re: Neo4K NeoHD Neo
It is works fine with 50Mb/s 4:2:2 MXF from Canon XF series, so it should work with nanoflash recordings also. Try the beta linked in the other thread.
