GoPro Cineform shipping with next Adobe CC update??
So I saw the Twitter feed last night from Cineform/Dave...
Cineform: "NEWS! Adobe will be shipping native GoPro CineForm support in the next release of Creative Cloud." Dave Newman: Check out Dave Helmly's blog for the latest from Adobe, which will include our award winning GoPro CineForm codec. What’s New in the Fall release of Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 « DAV's TechTable I'm trying to make sense out of all this. Does this mean Cineform codec (as an encoder) is going to be included in Adobe Premiere/After Effects CC? How does this affect Premium/Professional Studio line? My workflow is primarily centered around Adobe as I don't use many other application suites for editing or effects. I have been using Cineform in all its premium paid forms for many years now since "ProspectHD" days. Does this mean I no longer have to buy any future upgrade since it's essentially going to be included in Adobe? |

I am also interested to know if the Adobe CC 2014 version of CF will replace my CF Premium stand alone application.
Also, Dave's video about Premiere Pro/CF indicates that the CF transcoding will be only to CFHD.mov for both Mac and PC. Is it true that there will be no CFHD.avi??

Re: GoPro Cineform shipping with next Adobe CC update??
Details will be made clearer when Adobe CC 2014.1 is released. High level: Adobe will ship with extensive GoPro CineForm encode and decode support, without having Premium (or better) licenses to the older CineForm components. This is all round good news. It doesn't however ship with any external (to Adobe) codec support, such as playback through Quicktime, DirectShow or VFW support, or transcoding with HDLink/Remaster or FirstLight/Studio for Active Metadata controls. The codec is is being made much more widely available, existing CineForm customers I expect will benefit the most.

Yes, it is a fun to see CineForm positivity from Reduser.net. Both GoPro and Adobe employees (Jim G & Dave M) have chimed in on that thread.

I guess that adobe won't support cs6. I am one of the millions who do not want to pay for CC on a rental basis. Cineform support for CS6 has been very poor with lots of bugs.
