Image noise with standard Premiere HD codec

Hi,

I am new to HD editing and I am having some unexpected problems. Some of my SD exports have artifacting in them. I get the problem when exporting to DV and to DVD. (I explored some posts about this in the Cineform forum area).

The artifacts are not the hens teeth of interlaced footage (I shot in 1080i with decent light). The effect I get is moving noise on the forehead of an African American woman. She's not moving, but her forhead is crawling with pixels!

I tried deinterlacing, going out to progressive (which I do not plan on using) and I played with changing some field orders. I am exporting the compilation from a rendered HD on another timeline. Not much luck with these tests.

Granted, I don't have the full version of Aspect HD, but this should not be happening. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!

-David

I haven't use the Premiere version is such a long time, but there have been so many upgrades since then (particularly for interlaced processing and timeline scaling to SD DVD), you should at least try Aspect HD. If Aspect HD is not what you need then uninstall it. If you want to use the free version that comes with PPro 1.5.1, I would bypass its scaling engine. Export your timeline to a full resolution AVI (of any type), then load that into a tool that is field aware and scale externally (After Effects has an excellent field aware scaling engine.)

Thanks for the solutions

David,

I appreciate you and you company's response. It says a lot.

I am interested in the full version of your product. I will download the trial version and try to export export my existing "old-Premeire-version" timeline with it.

If if does not work, I will try using After Effects!

Thanks again,
