Remote Tally Light

An earlier firmware release did away with the constant tally light on the remote trigger and replaced it with a blinking one. I'm speaking of the CD designed trigger with the red tally (looks like a shutter release). Any chance there will be an eventual menu option to switch this light from blinking to constant?

When I'm working run and gun, I keep the remote switch taped to my sun shade so that I can occasionally reference it with my left eye. Believe it or not, the interval between blinks is too long for me to get a quick look while recording. This is turning out to be pretty distracting. Not only do I have to wait for the blink, but I have to deal with the micro-second of panic that I'm not recording ;-).

Thanks,
Eric

Dear Eric,

I will see what we can do. I agree that this needs to be improved.

Hi Eric-
I agree, the blinking Tally light is a problem. We need to revamp the code to turn on a solid light if the recording is going OK, but blink (at rates proportional to the severity of the issue) if we encounter a problem (such as CF cards almost full or loss of source, etc).

Let me speak to our engineers today and discuss further.

Best-

Thanks guys.

Mike, I agree, blinking to indicate a problem or the end of a CF card would be great.

Hi Dan & Mike,
I agree change the tally light on the remote trigger back to constant. When working in a darkened theater It's a real problem and I have to hide it under a lens cloth.

Tally Light Fix

OK, the corrected Tally LED will be a near term beta update. I have spoken to our software developer team about this issue. It's a relatively simple fix.

Where can I find more information about this remote trigger? Is it a convergent design accessory?
