audio question

Sorry this is probably a really stupid question.. but here goes anyway..

So far I,ve always shot tape same time as recording to nano.. if I plug it all up as usual but dont run tape..
Ofcourse I have to set TC at the nano.. and press record on the nano..

But picture and audio will come through HD SDI same as if there were tape running .. wont it..?

Thanks

Dear Robin,

Yes.

Just be certain that you camera will not go into standby or shut off after a certain length of time.

Also, make sure you are not outputting any Menus, frame markers or TC windows etc over the HD-SDI out on the camera as they will be recorded on the Nano. I did that once by accident.

Dear Ernie,

Don't feel bad, this has happened to many people.

It even happens when one has a monitor hooked up to the HD-SDI loop thru.

Many of us are accustomed to seeing these in the viewfinder and think nothing of it when they see it in a monitor attached to the nanoFlashes HD-SDI output.

We try hard to warn against this.

A nice thing about my F800 is that there are two independent SDI outputs, and one of them can never have anything overlaid on the video, so it's always safe to use without any worries.
