c500 120fps option...

Just purchased a 7Q and I was wondering if the unit will be able to handle 120fps from my c500 at a future date. I've seen examples of people using two Geminis to achieve said frame rate.

I realize you are currently looking to get 4K ProRes going...and I'd pretty much agree that's more useful...but I'd like to know if its on the roadmap or perhaps beyond the reach of the hardware. Thanks.

Re: c500 120fps option...

Dear Kevin,

Yes, we plan on adding 120 fps support for the C500.

Our current plans are to support the C500 4096 x 1080 Raw mode at 120 fps in a future firmware release.

Respectfully,

Thanks for the response. I'd even be happy with 120fps 2K or HD if that's possible.

I 2nd the need for 120fps @ 2k or HD. ProRes would be killer- mine would work on every job if i could do that!

Re: c500 120fps option...

Dan -

Did this most recent firmware add 120fps Canon 4K RAW?

The "Odyssey Record Time Chart" PDF and user manual lists the ability to get 25 minutes of footage on 2x512 GB SSDs at that frame rate. I don't recall seeing it in the release notes though. Just a little confused...as usual. Thanks.

Re: c500 120fps option...

Dear Kevin,

The Canon C500 has the ability to output 4K "Half Raw" at 120 fps.

They have two special modes that can accomplish 120 fps in 4K.

We do support one of these two modes in our current firmware.

The two modes are 4K Half Raw and 4K x 1K.

We support the 4K Half Raw mode at this time at 120 fps (and we have for a few months.)

Please note that in Full 4K Raw, the Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+ support up to 60 fps, and two SSD's are required for this mode.

Respectfully,

Thanks for the clarification, Dan. I figured the chart was just a misprint.
