Sony FS7 + Odyssey 7Q

The Sony FS7 is out, can CD say something about the support with Odyssey 7Q and this camera? :
Is the O7Q compatible right now with FS700 license or through a future firmware and aditional FS7 license?

Re: Sony FS7 + Odyssey 7Q

Dear Ole,

We do not have a Sony PXW-FS7 + Expansion Unit in our lab yet.

Based on what we know, including discussions with Sony, if one has the FS7 + FS7 Expansion Unit, then the Odyssey7Q will work just fine.

The FS7 Expansion Unit has the Raw output port (an HD-SDI output)
and this outputs the various signals to the Odyssey7Q, just like the FS700.

I feel that you can expect the same wonderful recording options, such as 2K Raw at 240 fps, and 4K Raw at 60, and I am assuming the 120 fps 4K Raw mode (a cached mode like the FS700).

If any of this information changes, I will provide correction in this thread as soon as possible.

I know that Sony mentions the Odyssey7Q in their FS7 presentations.

Respectfully,

Re: Sony FS7 + Odyssey 7Q

Thanks Dan!!

No official information anywhere yet about 4K 120fps cached on the FS7, but I like you assume.

So yes if you come across updated and confirmed info reg this please let us know.

Re: Sony FS7 + Odyssey 7Q

Dear Ole,

Our Mitch Gross is currently at IBC.

He posted on another forum that the FS7 did not support the 120 fps 4K Raw mode, which is a cached mode, like the FS700.

I did not find that in the documentation, but Mitch attended the Sony FS7 briefing at IBC.

As soon as we receive a FS7 in our Lab, we will be able to find out for certain.

In general, we expect that the Odyssey7Q + FS700 Raw Option will support the FS7 Raw modes without any changes on our part.

Thus, this will include our 4K Raw to HD Apple ProRes 422 HQ mode which has proven very popular.

And this will include our 4K Raw to 4K Apple ProRes 422 HQ mode which is due out near the end of this month.

And anyone with our Sony FS700 Raw option will be able to use that option for the FS7 + Expansion Unit.

We are renaming our FS700 Raw Option to FS Raw Option.

Our website now reflects the new naming convention.

Respectfully,
