Multi-Camera Productions - Apollo

Dear Friends,

In December of 2015, we introduced our Apollo and Apollo Option for the Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+ .
And we have greatly expanded its capabilities since then.

There are many benefits to shooting with multiple cameras. Here are a few.

Some of these are obvious.

1. Create much more interesting footage with multiple camera angles.

2. Safer.

If using one camera, any problems, such as focus or other issues, can be very problematic.

3. Less Stress.

It is a huge stress reliever having a second or third camera angle to switch to in post, for example when shooting a wedding.

While moving or panning the stress of ensuring perfect images 100% of the time, goes away.

When panning, one does not always know what may be in the scene.
If it is undesirable, then having another camera angle can save your shoot.

4. Far Easier.

When shooting with POV cameras, such as GoPro's, there are distinct advantages to recording with a Multi-Camera recorder.

When one records externally, as one does with our Apollo or Apollo Option, one can see the image from each camera, ensure that the image is good, and immediately detect if there is a problem.

The camera batteries lasts longer, less chance for a camera to overheat, and the footage does not have to be transcoded.

And one does not have to work with micro sized media.

Media Management is easier, if one records from multiple cameras to just one SSD.

All of the various camera angles will have matching filenames and be in perfect sync, if using an Apollo Option or Apollo.

5. Puts you ahead of your competition.

If they are shooting with a single camera, you can command a higher fee for your work, and generally your clients will like your multi-camera footage better.

====================

A lot of production companies and shooters have multiple cameras,
some may be DSLR's which can work fine as a second camera.

====================

Our Apollo Option for the Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+ or our Apollo unit makes multi-camera production much easier.

These tools offer features and benefits that are either very hard to achieve or impossible to achieve with other devices. The Odyssey7Q/Odyssey7Q+ and Apollo each weigh under 1.5-pounds and easily fit into a carry-on bag for remote shoots.

A. The footage from all cameras start on precisely the same frame, and have precisely the same timecode, and have matching filenames.

All of the footage is recorded in one common, professional codec that does not need to be transcoded.

This is great for post, as they can start editing immediately, as the footage is already properly organized and perfectly aligned.

The Apollo Option and Apollo handle the situation where a camera goes off-line during a shoot, while not interrupting the shoot for the other cameras. The last good frame will be recorded until the camera goes back on-line. When it does, the footage will be in proper sync, matching the other cameras, saving a great deal of time in Post.

B. One can use our substantial camera matching tools, making the use of different cameras much easier.

Since all images are on the same monitor, one can instantly tell if the cameras match.

To go further, one can use our Dual Waveform Monitor and RGB Parade and our Quad Color Vectorscope to ensure precisely matched cameras.

C. One can quickly and easily review any clip, with all of the various camera angles in perfect sync.

D. Media Management and Data Wrangling is very easy.

The footage can be recorded to one SSD, or if desired, to two SSD's, thus creating two Master's simultaneously.

Data Wrangling is now easy, and no longer tedious, With two Masters, the uploading of the files to a computer can be performed in one's hotel room, as the second Master can be with someone else for safety.

Uploading one SSD, versus uploading the various media, from different camera types, is much easier and safer.

E. The Apollo is the only device that we know of that offers AV Align.

We using multiple cameras, some may have more latency, where it take longer for the video to be processed in camera.

Professional cameras typically have a low video latency, but some DSLR's can have up to 4 frames of delay.

The Apollo quickly and easily solves all Audio and Video Alignment issues, saving substantial time in Post, and facilitates the live output (all in perfect sync) when switching among cameras for live production.

F. The Apollo has a professional four-camera glitch-less switcher built-in.
And the switched output can be recorded internally along with four isolated camera feeds.

The camera do not have to be gen-locked, as four frame synchronizers are built-in.

G. The Apollo Option or Apollo can be used very effectively as a Video Assist device.

Viewing four camera angles in perfect sync, and then switching to any camera angle full screen is very easy to do.

Scrubbing the footage, and playing back the footage in loop mode is fully supported.

Markers can be inserted while recording or in Playback. In and Out Points can be placed while scrubbing the footage.

There are many more benefits to the Apollo Option or Apollo.

If you have our Odyssey7Q or Odyssey7Q+ and our latest firmware 2016.06.1431,
you already have the ability to test our Apollo Option.

We are available to talk about the Apollo Option or Apollo or support you 24/7.
