60i slow motion; I lose some quality, correct?

I'm doing the infamous 60i to 24p slow motion business in After Effects, and I notice that the quality of my quicktime file is not as good when I send my exported after effects file back to final cut.

My process is this:
1. In FCP, export "Quicktime Movie" as reference movie, and then import into After Effects CS3
2. interpret footage to 24p, interpolate fields, yada yada.
3. Then I do Export.. Quicktime Movie.. HDV 108024p.
When I try to add my movie to the Render Queue, when I import the file back into FCP it doesn't play, but exporting the other way works fine

It would make sense that I'm losing some quality doing this, because I am creating a whole frame from only 1/2, yes? Just trying to verify..
