After Effects render problem

I have AE 6.5 pro and some of the more detailed effects have been rendering very slowly. I have a Pentium 4 2.60 GHZ processor and have 1gig of ram. Is this enough to do everything that AE has going on?

AE loves RAM and you will notice a huge difference if you put in another 1 Gb, or more.

Also, make sure, if possible, that no other applications is running in the background while using AE. I have 2 Gb RAM and if i have Encore DVD running in the background the render time in AE is sloooooow.

it depends on the effect... some effects render very quickly. other effects, like digieffects delerium, magic bullet, etc., take a long time with any of today's computers.
