Yup. Van Hurkman's book is the go-to book. Quite an excellent example of what a technical book should be like.

Re: color grading book for cinema?

I agree it is an excellent book. He uses Black Magic Resolve for many of his examples, you may be interested to know that a fully functional version is available as a free download from the Black Magic web site. The only limitation is that it will only handle video up to Full HD (1920 x 1080), you have to buy the full version for 2, 4, & 8K video.

"DaVinci Resolve Lite - Free

The free DaVinci Resolve Lite includes the same high quality processing as the full DaVinci Resolve with unlimited color correction nodes, however it limits projects to SD and HD resolutions, a single processing GPU and a single RED rocket card. Stereoscopic 3D features, 2K, noise reduction, power mastering, remote grading and sharing projects with an external database server are features only offered in the full DaVinci Resolve and are not included in this free DaVinci Resolve Lite edition.!"

Here is the download link
