although it's a block you probably wouldn't want to be walking down when the camera is being used . It's called the iball - can Apple sue the British Gov. ???

I dunno ... since this is first generation, it might suffer from a lot of issues ... particularly the extreme wobble and rolling shutter effects from its CMOS sensor, especially it being first generation from a new company to camcorder development, the British Government. And thats not even talking about the 5mb MPEG2 mode (max recording format on this camera, according to the initial specs).

Let's hope they are smart enough to at least include a HD-SDI port on it, to bypass compression and record straight to a Mac Pro or something. That way the troops have a much cleaner image to judge whether its a safe area or not.

That's really a great device, too bad for Apple, it's such a perfect name. Love this quote on the "image stabilizer":
Quote:
... data is then sent back and remapped through a type of processor ... which compensates for spin and tumble and then displays a true 360 image in real time.
Imagine being able to punt your camcorder in the air like a football and still get rock steady images.

Well, yes, but it currently has a completely servo lens at this point.

I did hear rumors of a 2x wide angle lens though.

A full manual HD lens is unlikely as there will be no operator on the camera once it is thrown into a dangerous room.
