The pricing looks very reasonable on these models and the 1080p mode is interesting. Also the waterproof model is intriguing. It will be interesting to see tests of these models to see how they perform.

Like JVC was to HDV, Sanyo is to 1080p60 recording... The first to do so in a consumer camera!

Now let's see how the professional world will come out with a cost-effective 1080p60 camera. (but please, no rolling shutters...)

1920x1080 60p wouldn’t look that good if the bit rate is too low but 24MBPS in not bad.

Its too bad you wont be able to make 1080 60p movies on Blu-Ray but I wonder if the PS3 will be able to play the RAW files.

How's that possible? 1080/60p? I thought AVCHD progressive frame specification goes up to only 30p at 1080 res?

It's not AVCHD-compliant. It's AVC h.264 instead.

No, the PS3 decoding AVC at 60p would lag at the 40-50 frames per second range. Unless there is a optimization of the Cell to use the SPUs during decoding, it's not possible today with all the decoding on the PPU. XviD however is the only codec able to play at 1920x1080 60p on the PS3 at 19mbps. (any higher bitrate and it would overload the buses)

But I think a Nvidia GTX 2xx series GPU or a Core i7 at 3.2Ghz would do fine with AVC at 1080p60.

A while back, I dreamed of a pro codec called AVCPRO that would record AVC to tape and be in 1080p60. It seems they've skipped tape alltogether.

Filter size is 40.5mm diameter. Is that even a standard? Can one get step rings for this? If not would one be stuck with the Xacti lenses they are showing. I hope not. Did anyone notice the huge amount of vignetting in the pictures with the 0.4x WA lens?

1080/60p is cool. With the HDMI I am assuming HDMI capable HDTV's can handle playback at 1080/60p direct from the camcorder.

40.5mm step up rings

Yes, 40.5mm is a standard filter size. And B&H lists 10 step up rings for that size lens.

I use a 40.5mm to 43mm step up ring on my HD1000 to mount a 43mm hood. Also used my Raynox HD6600 WA (43mm mount) and it worked fine.
