Angenieux zoom servo unit
ENG servo units for PL optics seem to be the in thing. This is Angenieux version for their Optimo zooms.

Re: Angenieux zoom servo unit
Very cool, even if it is only limited to specific lenses.
I'm really hoping that the HandiZoom goes beyond the prototype phase & works with more cameras outside of the 5D mark II. A universal servo that works with nearly any lens & camera would be fantastic.

Re: Angenieux zoom servo unit
Well... the HandiZoom is basically like a motorized follow-focus in that it sits on rails and interfaces with the gearing via ring or the existing gears, so I suspect any lens which can have a zoom assist added should work with the HZ.
The only thing that makes it DSLR-specific is the usb rec start, which I assume would be trivial to replace with a Canon/Fuji connector assuming the chipset will support those protocols; in which case the the HandiZoom could ship with a custom connecter that has interchangeable heads for interfacing with different types of cams and a switch to select the control type. |
