Apple Logic Pro X Released

Not sure how many of you score and mix on Logic... but for those that do Apple released the long-awaited 64-bit upgrade to it's Logic Pro application today. It's available in the App store for $200 (no upgrades from previous versions... but hey, it's only 200 bucks!)

Re: Apple Logic Pro X Released

Great to see Apple finally updating Logic.

That being said, a small correction to your post:

Logic became a 64-bit program as of version 9.1, trough an update.
It's not like FCP, where it only became 64bit with the X-update.

Can Logic X open up previous Logic files?

Now I'm wondering if Apple will ever do anything with Shake.

Ah righto. A false assumption I made, forgetting about that earlier update. Also, the new version no longer supports 32-bit plugins... though they apparently were supported by 9.1.

Re: Apple Logic Pro X Released

Ryan - this could be great news. $200 for something that can do score editing is a good deal just by itself, and not taking anything else into account.

There are a couple "standard" score editors out there but they are pretty pricy and judging by the description on Apple's web site this score editor has a lot of capability. However, I wish I could find a place to see what a printed version of their score looks like. For me, I prefer the old score look before they all went digital. The print had some body to it while the line weight on the digitally mastered scores are all very think. But I guess that is the progress (but I don't have to like it). (might add, that goes for a few other things in life)

For $200, this application looks like it has a lot of capability.

Thanks for the post.

It says in the review...
you’d be able to easily upgrade from a release of Logic from many years ago. (There’s complete backwards session compatibility.)
