I agree on the HD DVD - it does work great with FCP. However, once you start putting content onto a 25GB disc, you get spoiled fast... :-)
you're probably right about DRM in Leopard as the blocking factor - too bad they don't do a minor update to DVDSP now and just offer the support that they have for HD DVD (which is minimal, but works), then offer a full blown upgrade this fall.
