Insurance Donations

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this one, but has anyone had any success getting an insurance sponsorship. I have a few companies who are willing to send my no-budget documentary film on homelessness free equipment (lights, possibly a camera,) but the cost of the insurance to cover them for a month or two is higher than if I just rented the gear on the spread out days I'm shooting.

It is understandable, they ask for insurance on the items they loan you of course, and I wish my standard business insurance covered them, but it doesn't. So that means entertainment company insurance.

Anybody ever received "free insurance" when working on a documentary?
