YouTube and theDVChallenge

I read the last threads on YouTube for Challenge #9. The YouTube posting requirement was instituted, but I didn't see any clear instructions on how you upload something for the Challenge, and not reveal it before Dylan releases.
So my questions are:

1. Contest related: How do you upload to for reveal by Dylan at the appropriate time.

2. Technical Format related: I find I can render my best quality nearest to the100 megabyte limit for YouTube by rendering to a Window media file. I shoot everything 16:9 these days, so I render to a 16:9 Windows Media file. However, when I upload to YouTube, it stretches the image to fit the 4:3 player size. I have been able to a 4:3, making a letterbox effect inside the player frame, but I am wonder if there is way that YouTube displays 16:9, and if so, what to I need to do to get there from a Window media file....

Chris,

Last time around I uploaded on Sunday to Youtube and sent Dylan the link as soon as I had it. Seemed to work out fine. If your uploading before Sunday (or if you're really on top of your game and already have uploaded to Youtube) you could just keep the movie private until Sunday. I think either would work out fine.

As for the 16x9 issue, you'll most likely have to use a 4x3 sequence and letterbox it to 16x9 if you want to avoid anamorphic distortion. I know it kinda stinks that YouTube's player won't resize to 16x9, but I guess those are the breaks... hopefully they'll upgrade the player sometime soon.

Hope this helps...

Kevin

Thanks Kevin. I was afraid that was the case with YouTube's player. And thanks for the tip re: uploading to YouTube.

Hey Chris
I don't have a good solution for that yet, so upload it when you are ready (don't wait until the last minute, just in case) and send me the link. If possible, don't attach it to thedvchallenge group until it is released. This is one of those details that is going to get tweaked as we go.
