Ok, I just finished up a commercial shoot that I was slotted to do next week. The weather pushed me to shoot it today, so I'll finish that up ahead of schedule (what a concept) and have time for DV Challenege #7!

Thanks to Dylan for allowing us to sign up AFTER the announcement.

So, sign me up, I'm in!

Looking forward to viewing everyones ideas/productions. That's always my favorite part!

Jim

Too Late?

Too late to get in?

Kenneth Yeager December 8th, 2006 12:08 AM

I think I'll have to join into the fray. Memories is such an open topic, so I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. One man shows are completely cool, right?

Joey Taylor December 8th, 2006 12:17 AM

Oh geez!

Holy crap I didn't notice this until right now!

Count me in please!

Andrew Hood December 8th, 2006 07:15 AM

Damn, didn't realise how quick this came up. Count me in also.

Pat Worrell December 8th, 2006 09:53 PM

I have no idea what this is, or what I'm suppose to do, but I want to do it

Which has not been updated lately. I'll do that today, although I have no additional info on the current contest beyond what's been posted here on DVinfo.

(Dylan, shoot me an email if there's anything specific you want added to the web site).

Oops! Looks like I broke rule #5 with my opening title sequence.

Oh well, back to the editing room.

:)

Tony Edgar December 9th, 2006 06:39 PM

Sounds like fun.... Sign me up!

Bruce Broussard December 12th, 2006 01:15 PM

Ok. It has been indicated that I can join late, if so, I will try to: write a script, get a crew, get a cast, buy some tape, shoot some scenes, copy, edit, find some music, render something presentable...
all in the next 5 days. So, I am in (if i'm allowed).

Darryl Ahye December 12th, 2006 11:19 PM

Whoa I can't believe I totally missed the DVC7 announcement

I felt bad when I saw that the theme is already announced but I just read that late sign ups are welcome...Thank you!

:) I'm in

Brent Graham December 13th, 2006 01:27 AM

This is gonna be AWESOME!!!

It'll be my first film competition!!!

Actually, it'll be my first creative endeavor!!! I've only ever done work stuff (boring!)

I'm crazy excited! Too bad KLM lost my luggage containing my tripod and fluid head just two weeks ago!! Then new set doesn't get here until Friday!!!

What can I say, I must enjoy the pressure.

At least I was able to scrible a script down tonight!!!

Don't bother counting all my exclamation points!!! I'm excited!!!

Must donate soon, that way I'll be motivated to actually shoot the dang thing!!!

Alex Thames December 13th, 2006 10:25 PM

Wait wait, so late applicants are okay? Sign me up then.

Dylan Couper December 13th, 2006 11:31 PM

Just a reminder to the late signer-uppers how nice it would be to donate to our charity cause...
Which you can easily do by Paypaling your donation to the_klenzer@hotmail.com
(note that it is the_klenzer with an underscore!)

The charity of the winner's choice will thank you for it!

Mike Horrigan December 14th, 2006 08:06 AM

I joined early but I will donate as well, any charity is worth it.

I'm just not familiar with using Paypal? (I've heard of it though)

Do you pay with a credit card? Is it safe to use?

Thanks,

Mike

I have used PayPal for many many years and I love it. Never had any problems at all. They claim to have 100 million accounts all over the world. Go to the website and sign-up, but not sure they can verify you real quickly. It may take a few days to a week, depending on how you do it.

When Paypal talks about "verification", they actually get information from you to make the process more automatic. I've never gone that route but still use the basic service.

Warning about "phishing": There are emails that comeout periodically saying they are checking on activity on your PayPal account. They will have a site to direct you to to sign in. DO NOT DO IT. They are trying to get your account id and your password.

If you ever have a question about your account, just go to the paypal site directly and check out activity..

Mike Teutsch December 14th, 2006 11:56 AM

When they do the verification they actually send money to your checking account twice, then you have to notify them how much was deposited. The amount is not much, less than a dollar each time.

After your account is verified you can send money to anyone else, with an account, within a few minutes. Many business are using this service also, and that is handy. I would reccomend you get verified, as it makes transactions instant.

If you choose to use a credit card it takes verification, and if you send an E-check it also takes many days to clear. I recently sold a camera to one of our members, and he sent teh E-check and it took a week to clear.

LAST NOTE: Don't ever reply to anyone or any site requesting your account information. Believe me, they already have it. If you recieve an email asking for your information, don't just delete it, forward it to the company i.e. PayPal, Ebay, B&H or whomever. They track down these phishers.

Super fun, for anyone complaining about problems, heres a fun one, have half of the film recorded, but all my transitions are based on the second half of filming and I wont get to record that till around midnight saturday. FUN! Lets see how well I can edit in a night. Good luck everyone.

Chris Barcellos December 14th, 2006 04:42 PM

Yeah, I just got another PayPal phisher email. I forward it immediately to spoof@paypal.com per their website and they responded immediately that the email was fake.

Jamey Hastings December 14th, 2006 07:19 PM

I so think I'm going to be able to do this...

Okay...so my original plan with a group fell through, and I was getting sad that I coudn't do this after waiting so long and watching some of the fabulous submissions from past challenges...but I think I'm going to try to pull it off...Thank goodness for the new late sign up rule! :-)

I just did that, today.

Bruce Foreman December 14th, 2006 10:57 PM

Count me in, also.

Donation will be forthcoming, perhaps even forthwith. (Did I really say that?)

No crew, no actors, I'm even dogless!

But we'll give 'er a whirl...

Michael Gilbert December 15th, 2006 04:00 AM

Everything is shot... post work is all that is left....donation will be coming but im poor and once paychecks come in I will do what I can.

Mat Thompson December 15th, 2006 06:51 PM

Well I'm shooting tomorrow, and the script is written and waiting. So I guess I should sign up!

Thats it now, no excuses :)

Kenneth Yeager December 17th, 2006 07:28 PM

Well, I've decided to join forces with Gabriel. Our film will be online soon, but don't expect too much.
