DVC 7 Official Sign Up Thread!

Ok wannabe rockstars, it's time to step up.

This is the sign up thread for DVC7. By now you know the rules. For those who weren't around last holiday season, we are again running the December edition of The DV Challenge as a charity event. Every other time, it is free to sign up for The DVC. This time, well, it's still free, but with a healthy dose of guilt by yours truly to donate to our charity pool. Last year we raised over $500 which goes to the charity of the winner's choice. Lorinda Norton took that last year and gave it to great cause (Hey Lorinda, want to chime in and give me the exact number?). This year, I'm hoping we can match or beat that number. As well as feeling good about donating, you will also get your name highlighted in our winners thread, so you can brag about it later.

A few things will change on this challenge, one time only!
1) You can join in even AFTER the theme has been posted!
2) The time limit will be more flexible.
3) The rules on using previously shot footage will be waived!
4) Possibly one other one will be changed, but I'm not telling which.

START TIME:
The theme will be announced THIS THURSDAY NIGHT! That's right, I'm giving you as much time as possible, not that you need more than a day, but schedules and all around this time of year make it tough for some... Remember you can still sign up even if you are reading this after the start time!
FINISH LINE:
Sunday, December 17th, midnight, your must have emailed me the link to your online entry!

Donate to:
Please donate when you sign up, not when you (cough) win...
Paypal is the method of choice! I'll be using the same account this year as I did last: the_klenzer@hotmail.com
I will be posting names of who donates as we go!

And we're off!

Dylan Couper December 5th, 2006 10:27 AM

I'm in. I'm still moving and don't have any editing computers, but I still owe my film from last time...

Lorinda Norton December 5th, 2006 10:41 AM

It was $525. Sure would be cool to meet or surpass that amount this time around!

Chris Barcellos December 5th, 2006 10:47 AM

Me Too !!

Edward Slonaker December 5th, 2006 10:59 AM

Gabriel Yeager December 5th, 2006 12:02 PM

Ok I have one question before I sign up. How long can the video be? Or do you not say until you announce the theme?
Sorry, this is my first time at the DVC so I do not know much about it.

~Gabriel

Steven Hoffman December 5th, 2006 12:10 PM

3 Minutes I believe.

But they say that they normally give 10-20 seconds in case you have run over.

-Steve

Michael Fossenkemper December 5th, 2006 12:15 PM

Probably 3 minutes, if like the past. We had one with 5 minute limit.

Mike Horrigan December 5th, 2006 01:43 PM

I'm new at this...

But I have to give it a try.

I'm in!

Mike

Philip Gioja December 5th, 2006 01:53 PM

I'm signing up - had a wedding last time so missed out on the fun, but I'm going to try this time. I think Ben Lynn is going to help me out too. We'll work out a donation amount and send that in soon.

Meryem Ersoz December 5th, 2006 02:19 PM

pile on the holiday stress, i am not afraid!

signing up!

dylan, i'm confused by this paypal address...is there a space in "the klenzer" or is there an underscore as in "the_klenzer"--i think dvinfo automatically underlined it. others have already sent in their donations, so i'm probably the only dum-dum here, but could you clarify it?

It's an underscore, e-mail addresses can't contain space.. (yet, anyway ;) )

Bradley L Marlow December 5th, 2006 04:44 PM

Holy schmolly!

Well...I feel like starting to smoke again! I am craving a tar doobie about now.

I'm in! Like Meryem, I will go for this outrageous stress pile. Dylan- I have sent in a donation via paypal.

(bradley) ------------> off tearing out the last few cherished hairs in his head

Best wishes~
Bradley

Robert Martens December 5th, 2006 05:41 PM

Well, that's just great. I spend all day getting the van ready for this Saturday (things work just as I'd planned, Michael, we're in for a fun weekend) and miss the sign up thread and theme announcement. Lovely.

I'm here, I'm ready to go, I'm signing up. Let's rock.

Michael Fossenkemper December 5th, 2006 06:16 PM

Robert, good job, I think we scared off Jay and Bill. Someone has a chance to win now, hahaha. (they might even think we know what we're doing).

Just kidding, I really hope Bill and Jay sign up.

Lisa Shofner December 5th, 2006 06:22 PM

Count Me In

Stress is great, sleep is for the weak.

Gabriel Yeager December 5th, 2006 07:36 PM

mmm...

OK! I am in! I sure hope I find some actors. I have a few in mind...

Thanks guys!
~Gabriel

William Gardner December 5th, 2006 07:37 PM

Well, I'll say I'm in, although I'm very busy shooting a friend's short film this Friday and Sunday. Expect a weak effort from me this time or an ugly picture of me placed high on the Wall of Shame...

Bill

Andrew Khalil December 6th, 2006 12:31 AM

I'm in too:D

Randall Allen December 6th, 2006 07:12 AM

Sean McHenry December 6th, 2006 10:54 AM

I'm in, but I don't know why...

I am really stressed right now. What with the recent release of my last video (http://www.DeepBlueEdit.com) and working as a DP on a recent trailer shoot for a feature (see above site) and a real job and the dogs looking ill and my wife... good heavens... where did I put her? We went shopping and to the bookstore...

So OK. I will give it another shot.

Dear Santa, please bring me a Red Rider BB gun...

Sean McHenry

Richard Zlamany December 6th, 2006 10:55 AM

Count me in. I hope we get some snow here in CT for the contest.

Dennis Khaye December 6th, 2006 12:39 PM

If it's me, a camera, and a tripod, I'll do something. Thanks for all the hard work Dylan.

Dick Mays December 6th, 2006 02:29 PM

Dang it! Any time but this next week! Got a play to do this weekend, and a wedding in Memphis next weekend. This will be the first I've missed since doign DVC3.

Alex T. Hurter December 6th, 2006 04:14 PM

Count me in! I've been looking forward to this for quite some time. The crew is being assembled and I wait to get going with this!

David Cummings December 6th, 2006 05:42 PM

Im new to this

but what the hey.. I'm in!

Pete Bauer December 6th, 2006 09:33 PM

No time. Exhausted. Stressed out. No crew.

So I'm in!

Bradley L Marlow December 6th, 2006 10:52 PM

Ata Boy Pete! I'm hoping to see you shoot it yourself, cut it yourself, write it yourself, act 3-4 parts by yourself and post it yourself.

Best wishes~
Bradley

Michael Gilbert December 7th, 2006 08:51 AM

I'm in. Been wanting to do one since I stumbled across these forums.

Dick Mays December 7th, 2006 11:22 AM

Need a script?

Gosh. Just sitting here bummed that I won't be in this time. Then I got to thinking that maybe someone would like to shoot something written by another person. I have found this to be a very interesting exercise. Since I considered myself a writer before I ever considered myself a director, I'm volunteering a script on the announced theme to the first interested party. I'm also open to reciprocating, shooting one of your scripts the next DVC.

If nobody is interested, I'll just go back to feeling blue...

Hey Dick,

I just sent you an email through the forum.

Smile,
Kris

Dick Mays December 7th, 2006 11:46 AM

Kris

I don't know what email I registered with dvinfo, but I didn't see anything. You can send it to theatre4 <AT> alltel <DOT> net and I will get it.

Let me know who you have available to you as actors (ages, sex).

Dick

:) Not sitting around gloomy anymore :)

Meryem Ersoz December 7th, 2006 03:40 PM

crew? crew?? we don't need no stinkin' crew!

you push the button, jump in front of the camera, do your in-front-of-the-camera thang, and then run around the camera and push the button again. then laugh your a** off at yourself and how goofy you look hopping around your camera when you review the footage later and edit all those parts out.

then you can join the elite club of DVCers who have finished one solo from beginning to end.

failing that, you can also join the growing numbers of us who have shot dog videos.

Jay Silver December 7th, 2006 04:35 PM

Is this where I apply for the wall of shame?

(I'm sure I'll regret it more than once before it's over, but I'm hooked. Count me in!)
