New HDV Forums: CineForm & Lumiere

Howdy from Texas,

Pleased to announce that we now have dedicated HDV message boards for CineForm (headed up by David Newman) and Lumiere HD (by Frederic Haubrich). I've made a start at getting some of our HDV Editing threads moved into their respective CineForm and Lumiere areas, but it'll take awhile to get this process completed. In the meantime, please use these new boards for all discussions relating to specifically to Lumiere HD for Final Cut Pro, or any CineForm software product such as Aspect HD, etc.

The direct links are:

all CineForm software products

Lumiere HD for Final Cut Pro

Thanks again to David Newman and Frederic Haubrich for their highly valued participation here. It's much appreciated, fellows!

New JVC GY-HD100 Pro HDV camera forum is up!

Howdy from Texas,

Even though it hasn't been officially announced yet, we're getting enough discussion about the forthcoming JVC GY-HD100 camcorder (shoulder mount, "Pro HDV" format, interchangeable lenses) that it warrants its own dedicated forum. Interest should definitely pick up around NAB in mid-April.

The link is http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisp...?s=&forumid=98. Enjoy,

New forum: Sony HC1 / A1 HDV Camcorders

Howdy from Texas,

The latest additions to the Sony HDV line-up are a pair of single-CMOS camcorders, the HDR-HC1 and HVR-A1. Our new message board for these items is located at www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=99

Please direct all related discussions to that forum. Hope this helps,

HDV Info Net updated

Some long, long overdue articles have been added to HDV Info Net.

See http://www.hdvinfo.net/index.shtml

Where does the time go? I still don't have the new Sony cams on there yet; lots more content to put up, but at least this is a start. The site still breathes!

(Thanks Heath!)

Pardon Our Dust...

Howdy from Texas,

There's some general shifting and re-arranging that's happening right now on our main forum index page. I see no reason to turn the boards off while this happens, but it may cause a little confusion while you're browsing through the various fora. So, my apologies in advance, and please pardon our dust while this is going on. The changes so far:

We've added a new forum specifically for HDV with Sony Vegas:

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisp...s=&forumid=102

The forum "Towards a Film Look Using DV" has been re-named "Film Look Methods & Techniques," moved out of our "Tools of DV Production" category and into our Special Interests area. The link is the same as before though:

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?f=34

Some older, relatively inactive boards have been closed and archived, but are still searchable. They're now in the "Archives" category at the bottom of the forum index page.

More changes coming up... stay tuned,

Another update:

To better serve our member's interests, the categories for the HDV format and other High Definition topics have been expanded and "promoted" to the same level of display as all of our other categories. This makes for a very long, scrolling forum index page! You can collapse any category you're not interested in and remove those forum listings from view by clicking the "arrows" icons to the far right edge of any category name.

New board for Digital Cinema?

Wouldn't it be an idea to make an apart subboard for DIGITAL CINEMA, with RED there and the other new cameras (that one of Silicon Imaging or something) ... ?

Just a suggestion.

When Chris feels its time he shall probably do it and when theirs enough posts.

Red is going to be announced at NAB along with specifics and the Silicon images camera is getting launched then so nobody has much of an idea about either of them. As such when people start taking more notice and its closer to launch I suspect a forum might be made just like what happened with the XDCAM HD cameras.

Yes, I agree, and I also realize opening a complete new board with only two boards (Silicon camera and RED) is maybe not worth it, but if there would be more posts etcetera, it's maybe a good idea.

Anyhow, maybe arrogant of me thinking the moderators and Chris Hurd hadn't thought of that option already :-)

Mathieu: what is the difference between those camera's and any currently
existing models? Or are you thinking about tape-less camera's? The new SI
camera will probably get a dedicated forum (like RED). However I'm not sure
if they really fall into a different category. The HVX100 can record to P2 for
example. And I can imagine the RED signal coming out over HD-SDI can be
recorded to some tape format as well?

What I'm trying to say is that the differences between various systems might
be starting to blur a little bit?

Yes, you're right, I thought about that before I posted, and to be honest, I don't really know the answer...
Price point is blurry... Don't know, these last cams (Silicon and RED) are like really promoted as DIGITAL CINEMA cameras, but on the other side, you can use a HVX or XL H1 or HD100 to for digital cinema...
But I like that word: Digital Cinema, but I really don't have an idea how to choose which cameras belong there and which don't.
Me liking that name isn't enough of course, you can use an XL1s too for digital cinema...

I don't know, that's why I only posted the suggestion, but honestly: how to figure it out how to divide them, I don't know.
