Too bad I didn't read this before I went to IBC... We could have
meet there. Next year then? :)

David Slingerland October 5th, 2003 02:44 PM

seems like a good idea to me rob.. It was one heck of a show don't you think? The new tapeless formats from Sony and Panasonic. The hard disc options from JVC and Ikegami. Also some new Minidv stuff including the small autoque manufactured by Optex.
I really enjoyed it and I hope you did.
David

It was very nice indeed. We've seen very much digital cinema
there which was great. We also saw quite a few demos of
products, went to a free seminar as well. I even ran around
with a steadicam which was demanding beyond believe.

I was there saturday through monday though. Great time was
had by all!

I even went to a special presentation in the digital cinema
area where a hollywood DP (the guy that DP-ed Stuart Little 2)
talked which was quite interesting. I asked him what he thought
about shooting digital which he didn't really liked me asking
I think.... Heh.

Oh I also almost asked one of the tech guys in the digital
cinema to pop in my DVD version of my Lady X episode so
I could see it at a large screen... I chickened out though

David Slingerland October 5th, 2003 03:57 PM

I tried the steadicam pro and also the one with the Xl1s on it...I preferred the last one because of the weight!! No matter what those operators tell you..it can seriously hurt your back. I met Mister Steadicam himself Garret Brown. A friend of mine was actually doing the show for TIffen (steadicam ownners)
The mac's were impressive and so is final cut pro 4...still hoping to get my copy of that... your more of a pc man yourself right?
I guess i got hooked and i want to change but i keep buying mac's !

Rob Lohman October 5th, 2003 04:17 PM

Yeah, I'm a PC guy. But that mainly established itself through
my professions (programming). I'm so versatile with the PC and
can exploit any part of it basically that it won't be likely I'll ever
switch. But that's basically stick with what you know and works :)

I have switched from Premiere to Vegas though.

DV Expo West

Howdy from Texas,

I'm pretty bummed out because at the last minute I had to cancel my plans to attend Govt. Video Expo in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 3rd & 4th. I was really looking forward to this as a lot of you guys are going to be there and I always look forward to meeting folks and getting together over a beer or two.

However, plans are firm, and airline tickets have been purchased, and it's all set in stone, for my trip out to Los Angeles for DV Expo West on Dec. 10th through 12th. So if any of y'all are planning on being there, please stop by the Canon booth where I'll be working, and say howdy. There's always a good party or two at this event -- the DV Magazine staff usually have their little soiree, and it'll be great to see that gang again. There's usually a Canopus party, nothing like hanging out with former co-workers so I'll definitely be at that one if it's going on. Whether we hook up on the show floor, or at one of the evening events, I'm hoping to see you there!

Mark Argerake December 2nd, 2003 07:30 AM

I'm registerd already for teh DVExpo, but Decemer always seems to be teh most difficult month to get away.

Chris do you ever get to the CES in Vegas? I'm supposed to head to that as well, but I guess I need to see how DEcember ends up before I know for sure.

Chris Hurd December 3rd, 2003 10:00 AM

Hi Mark,

CES in Vegas and MacWorld in San Francisco are two shows that run during the same week in early January. For the past couple of years, I've been going to MacWorld (because San Francisco is such a beautiful, interesting city and because I'm already in Vegas five other times during the year). However this time I might go to CES since I haven't done that show in awhile. As soon as I know which one it's going to be, I'll post it right here.

Mark Argerake January 6th, 2004 04:07 PM

Getting ready to drive to Vegas... wooo hooo. Not sure what to expect. Never been to the CES before. Lots of vendors selling the latest cool stuff cheap? A guy can dream can't he?/?

Robert Knecht Schmidt January 6th, 2004 04:10 PM

Cleveland will host one of the Videomaker Expos in March this year. Anyone coming into town for that is invited to come explore the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--on me!

Chris Hurd January 7th, 2004 12:20 PM

From January 8th through the 11th, anyone attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, please drop by the Canon booth and say hello -- it's always great to meet folks from the message boards!

For Mark, CES is not a selling show; nothing is for sale on the show floor. But it is the single biggest technology event of the year... all the latest electronics; lots to gawk at! It's a lot of fun. See you there!

Chris Hurd January 23rd, 2004 11:03 AM

For anyone attending VideoMaker Expo West in Burbank Jan. 22-24, please drop by the Canon booth and say howdy! See you there,
