New DVD player

Samsung is coming out with a DVI compliant DVD player. It will skip the D/A conversion and contains a chip to upconvert from SD to HD.

Tests show it as being an improvement but not quite up there with digital material broadcast native in HD.

The question is, will that make our home grown DVDs look better - or bring out every glaring problem in our cameras/video skills/editing!

That usually depends on the MPEG encoding quality. But if the
image is sharper the audience might indeed see some things they
otherwise wouldn't have....
