HDV to DVD -- best way?

Following the approach suggested here, I've been able to capture, demux, convert to Pixlet and edit my HDV footage in FCP HD as well as convert it back to .ts format and record it back to the JVC 30K deck and the HD-10U camera. Now I'm getting requests to turn that edited production into a DVD. Anyone here have experience doing this? I've purchased DVD Studio Pro 3 but have little experience with DVD production.

In Premiere Pro on a PC, with the MainconceptPro plugin installed, simply select "export to DVD". Or export to MPEG2 and then use a separate DVD authoring application.

On FCP, I dunno, but the first step will be a good-quality re-encode to 720X480 MPEG2. May be possible from the FCP timeline??

Frederic & Graham -- Thanks for your suggestions. I purchased the Luminere software last week and have been having fun editing HD on my G4 Powerbook. I'm the Director of the Technical Services area for Washington State University and I evaluate new hardware/software for our Media Center before we put it into use. When I finish doing the evaluation, I'll want to shift the program to one of our dual G5s. Will this be possible without purchasing additional copies of Luminere?

Many thanks,

Ken Mock

Ken,

We will soon have multiple license packs available for a discounted price.

If you want to move the license to another machine, and not use it anymore on the originally installed machine, you can do that.

Just let me know and I will help you.

I'm glad you like the software!

Thanks,

Frederic
