Software DVD player to Firewire

Greetings!

Does anyone know of a software DVD player that can send output to firewire devices? What I'm looking to do/try is view/send DVD signal/content directly from my PC to my video monitor rather than burn a DVD to view it on a stand-alone DVD player. And sending it via firewire would eliminate a lot of cable swapping. I realize that such a software player may make it "too" easy to copy DVD programs so it may not exist, but I thought I'd try in case there was.

Thanks for any insights!

Ben

I have not heard of such DVD player software. However, there are some DVD
authoring programs out there that support monitor out either over firewire or
a dedicated hardware board.

The only DVD authoring program that I know of that supports preview over
firewire is Sony's DVD Architect 3:

Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 also introduced the firewire preview function last year.

The firewire preview function of DVD Architect is really only usefull for framing. Playback is not smooth at all. The whole reason for this feature is to allow you to make sure that all your menu options are within the safe area and will show up properly on a regular TV when you burn a DVD. The quality of firewire playback is nowhere near good enough for anything else.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, guys. If the preview function in DVD Architect is nothing more than a slide show, I suppose that's better than nothing.

Is the feature in Encore any better?

Thanks again!
