Slowing down and speeding up footage, rewinding and fast forwarding at DVinfo.net

Hey guys looking to get some tips on the fastest workflow for slowing down and speeding up footage in and rewinding and fast forwarding footage in FCPx. I started a slow motion booth and have to edit a slow motion video I shot on a Sony FS700 at 240fps like this one below:

What sort of things are they doing. How can u achieve these cuts as good as these guys. They said they edited in FCP x as well. You think maybe I should buy twixtor do be able to do the slowing down and speeding up and reversing effect? Please anyone with experience in slow motion video or just have experience with slowing down and speeding up footage in FCP x, please chime in! Any tips
would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

The X retiming module makes this incredibly easy. BUT - you need to learn to operate the software. Plus there are issues of high speed lighting and proper camera setup.

Not rocket science. But if you want to make the money - you need to do your research, spend the money for the equipment and then test out a robust workflow that you can execute over and over again and do that as fast as you can.

Also understand that the equipment and skills needed to do this will go from "rare" to "most teenagers can" in likely a year or two because it's largely a "formula" thing - not an artistic deal that requires am experienced operator. (Stand here - now smile and throw the glitter! - now kiss her - great - now lets get the slightly typsy group in and EVERYBODY DANCE! Like I said, it's a formula thing. So recoup your investment as rapidly as possible.

I think the higher end wedding folk in my area are already selling the "high speed video booth" thing at around $600 as an add on package. Decent incremental income if you're already making a profit on the overall wedding - and if you "DYI" the editing it or have someone cheap who can cut the highlights and do the retiming efficiently.

Expect it to be price pressured down to maybe a couple of hundred in a year or so as the competition increases and the early players amortize away the costs of their initial gear package.

My 2 cents, anyway.
