Was there an FCP 9?

Apologies for asking a dumb question that's also a couple of years out of date.

I think at the Apple website they say to pronounce the name of their product as "ten" rather than "X". And Google tells me that there was an FCP 8 in development.

But was there ever a 9? If not, why did Apple skip a number?

Apple stopped FCP Legacy releases at 7 (Final Cut Suite 3) and skipped up to FCP X as a basically new product. Should have used a different name for FCP X as it was such a different beast than FCP 7
