Why Is my FCP background green?

heya guys,

that's basically my problem.

i've been editing the same project for a little while and when i opened it up today for some reason the background was green? maybe i pushed a button accidentally or someone was messing with my machine but either way the background is green.

i tried the whole view>background>black thing and that didn't work.

when i set it to green though it turns really bright green, but when it's set back to black it just goes to a darker shade of green.... not sure what happened but i'd like to fix this asap.
thanks!

In order to help you troubleshoot we'd need a snapshot of your setup:

- What hardware are you using and how old is it?
- What version of FCP are you using?
- How old is your monitor?

Fill in this missing info and those of us that can will offer help.

Unfortunately I have had this happen before and have not found a fix for it. It even shows the green on an output monitor. However, if I remember correctly, it does not show up if you encode the file for web, DVD, etc. I hope someone has a simple solution for this!

I have a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0GHz
it's FCF 5.0
ummm i'd say... the monitor is about 3 years old?
