Speediest M2T to Quicktime workflow, any tips?

Hey guys,

Occasionally get these really simple edits to do, quick turnaround and slap-bang cuts. The editing takes no time at all, but the processing is really slowing things down.

The footage is all HDV 720p and i capture the whole tape using HDVxDV to an M2T file.

Normally I use Apple Intermediate Codec or go Uncompressed, but is there a speedier option??? For these jobs, i just want the processing to be fast fast fast.

I would capture within FCP straight to .mov but the data-breaks working with 720p in FCS2 is just not cool....so M2T is the way i've gone...

Anybody got any tips?...am i approaching it all wrong?

Try an NLE with native HDV support?

Sorry, that one slipped out. Seriously, doesn't the tape capture time far outweigh the processing time?

Use HDMI, HDSDI or even component out of the HDV camera and use something like MOTU V3HD, Blackmagic Design Intesity, Decklink HD or Multibridge PRO/Eclipse then transcode in realtime capturing.

I do that with my HV20 captured as DVCPROHD since my other cams are HPX and HVX.
