Problems with QuickTime 6.4

Final Cut Pro 4.0.2 and QuickTime 6.4 do not appear to be compatable. Apple has released a "degrade" for restoring 6.3.

I installed QuickTime 6.4 and it broke my FCP 4.0.2. When I reinstalled FCP 4.0 everything worked, but then when I upgraded to 4.0.2 again it broke again.

I went back to QT 6.3 and now have no problems.

The degrade can be found at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120255

This is not the first time newly released versions of QT are not compatible with FCP. Sorry for your bad luck and I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Sorry about the URL.

Should be docs, not socs as in:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120255

Should have mentioned I am using a new dual 2GHz G5. There have been some general FCP 4 issues on the G5s, apparently.

The current version is 10.2.8 the next update is Panther, OS 10.3 and it will be released Friday at 8pm at retail centers. If you mail ordered it, it will arrive (Apple usually uses FedEx) Friday. I will install it on several of my computers and report any problems late Friday. Saturday I will install it on the computer that has FCP on it if no one is reporting problems. I'll post how things go for me and my myriad array of Macs (a PowerBook, three iMacs, one Power Mac with FCP).

Ordered the upgrade a few days ago. Fedex says it was picked up yesterday and left Oakland today :-)

What about FCP3 and QT6.4?

Does anybody know if there are issues with FCP3.04 and Quicktime 6.4 on OSX10.2.8? Should I upgrade or wait?

Has anyone heard if Panther will fix the problems with quicktime 6.4? I installed the update last night, then went to bed and am afraid to turn the G5 on today...maybe I will turn it on just to reinstall 6.3? Will get Panther tomorrow...

Clay...

I wouldn't upgrade at this time to QT 6.4. Panther may fix many QT issues, but too soon to say, ask tomorrow night and we'll have a better idea.
