Mr. Springer,

Could I take a whack at it, meaning give it a try with your setup?

Sharon

PS Sorry Mr. Donald it's just that I have been reading his posts and he needs help with his system setup.

Do whatever you'd like. But I don't think this is a system issue. It's a FCP 4.1 issue which will hopefully be fixed with the next update. I am not the only one to experience this.

I had posted this yet took it down as I thought you'd think I was being forward.

So what to do here is a step by step what my husband suggests…..

1. Backup your data if you could drag it to another HD this is the easiest.
2. If you cant transfer then burn DVDs if you have Toast 6 as this will allow you to transfer large amounts of data. If you have a project that are larger than the DVD use Stuffit Deluxe and break it up into smaller pieces.
3. Format you drive if you like, we here at our production company format our drives after every project to keep them clean, as for the main drive with the OS X we format that and do a clean install twice a year. Hey! They collect garbage.
4. By doing this you will be able to back step your systems to when it was a peak level. Please save you FCP project document, as it will carry all the info that you will need to reload your project.
5. If you don’t know if an update is worth it or not check the boards meaning www.macfixit.com www.macnn.com another good one is http://www.macintouch.com as is http://www.macosxhints.com http://www.macaddict.com then there is http://www.versiontracker.com
6. If my husband goes to Macfixit, Macnn, Macintouch EVERYDAY then why not others to see what others are having problems with. At each site there are forums as well that you will be able to see the ripple effect.
7. Finally not all updates are bad that is not what I am saying just let the masses the Best Testers as we call them check it out for you as you don’t have time to waste.
8. OH don’t forget there are many apps to use one that is great is called Cocktail try it it’s great this one is tested and is good.

Wish you luck.
