I'm sure that Apple doesn't authorize "enablers" to bypass its restrictions. I wonder how long it will take for them to subvert it. Perhaps by the next version of iDVD.

My understanding of the restriction is, it's in the firmware of the Pioneer DVD units. Pioneer has released 4 or 5 firmware updates and Apple has released none. It's rumored that Apple has tracked down unauthorized firmware updates via the sites that post them. The updates also remove the region restrictions, but they also improve proformance and reliability of the drive.

Amazon Withdraws OS X Rebate

Got an email this morning from Amazon.com saying that "due to overwhleming response" it was withdrawing the OS X rebate offer for pre-orders placed after July 31, 2002.
