Editing both DV and BetaSP in same timeline?
Hi,
I'm going to be starting a bunch of projects soon where I'll be using DVCAM footage that I shoot and combine it with running footage in BetaSP format in the same timeline. I'll be making master tapes by printing to tape back to the camera (DVCAM format) and also printing to a BetaSP deck (via DecklinkSP). Is it possible to capture both formats in the same project and work with them in the same timeline? Or is this something where I will have to capture the Beta in another project and export it to a quicktime movie, then import it into the dv timeline? I'm just curious if it's possible to use the different formats together and what easy setup I would use (one of the dv presets or the capture card presets). Any thoughts?

What I do is digitize both to a common format: NTSC DV.
The DV material comes in through the usual route, Firewire. The Betacam SP material comes in through a Decklink SP card via component connectors and is encoded as an NTSC DV format file. The two sources can then be edited on the same timeline and, later, mastered to Betacam SP and DVCam tape. Hope this helps.
