Depth of field technique

Hi,

Thought I'd share this idea I read about in American Cinematographer magazine. In order to isolate a particular object within a seemingly narrow band of field depth (as with a long telephoto lens) in post a matte and blur filter can be used within your NLE software. The more points on the matte the better to control the blur on elements to be out of focus.

Hope I'm not stating the obvious here - just want to give to this forum as well as receive from it.

Philip,

Yup, it's a well used technique, but always good to repost the basics! Thanks for your contribution.
