My Mac will no longer recognize my Sony HVR-HD1000U

This is weird. I have a Panny HMC 40 & a Sony HD1000U. Both played well together in Mac bliss for over a year, using FCS 2. Last year I shot everything on my Panny, then this weekend I used my Sony as a second camera. Now my Mac will not work with my Sony, no matter what settings I use. All day my Mac actually crashed as I tried to get it to work (which it has never done before...)

Anybody else experience the same?

(FYI as an aside - The Sony can't even play in iMovie!)

Best,
Marc S. Brown

Got it- it was a bum fire-wire cord... What a pain to diagnose though! Thanks to the previous posters who suggested looking at the "About My Mac" to see if the computer recognized the camera.

All's well that ends sorta well - if only my footage was better!
