exporting PAL

I am using FCP 4.5 and would like to know if I can convert NTSC DV to PAL DV. I would then like to make a PAL DVD using iDVD.
Thanks, Aldo

FCP will do a really poor job of that. Take a look at Graeme's standards conversion plug in (he's a regular here at DVinfo): http://www.nattress.com/standardsConversion.htm

Another option is DVfilm Atlantis which runs as a small standalone converter: http://www.dvfilm.com/atlantis/

Both programs have free trial versions.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply Boyd. I will take a look at both those options.

iDVD will do this automatically. I make NTSC DVDs with PAL footage all the time. All I do is import the PAL DV and set the iDVD project to NTSC.

EZ!

Hi Victor
From what I've read about iDVD is that if you want a PAL DVD project you must be importing PAL DV material. iDVD dosen't do the conversion for you. The NTSC video must be converted to PAL before you import into iDVD. That's what the manual describes. Does anyone know diferently?
Thanks for your reply Victor.
Cheers,Aldo
