I run FCS on both my Mac Book pro and a new Mac Pro 2.66. Both run perfectly smoothly- though I have nothing to comaratively benchark it against. I just switched from Vegas/PC to FCS/Mac.

Thanks, all, for these great replies -- I'm mainly interested in hearing about render times for HD video in a fully-tricked-out Intel Mac Tower with all the memory slots full: How much better is it that a packed G5 tower, in real-world use. THAT's what's going to tip the balance for us...

It's not a perfect comparison but my 2ghz MacBook Pro seems to be faster than my Dual 2ghz G5 when it comes to HDV especially when rendering effects.
