So, just to clarify, FCP 6 can play HDV out of the timeline (or Viewer) and through either a camera or deck to a monitor and speakers hooked up? I don't need an HD card from DeckLink or AJA, along with an A,D/D,A (analog to digital, etc., converter) to view and hear HDV (converted to uncompressed HD) on my monitor?

Thanks,

heath

Yes, and it's not bad, I recorded the feed from my HDV timeline straight to a DVD recorder from firewire and it looks good.

But I can run HDV from the timeline and Viewer directly from my Apple into an HDV deck or camera and out to a monitor and speakers with no problem?

Heath,

You cannot monitor an active HDV sequence as HDV to a deck or camera, but FCP 6 will output a SD DV signal back over firewire.

You can view this from camera/deck and record , but only down-sampled as DV. You will not get a monitored HDV output.

I'll take that over telling my boss to shell out $1000 or more for an HD card, etc. But I am loving the MXO from Matrox.
