Why the confusion on the bit rate?
My editor just encoded some video (windows media, coded 9) for the web at 640 x360.
He says he encoded it at 1300 kb/sec but when I save it from quicktime (on my mac) and then play it from QT and do command i, for info inspector is says it's at 2276 kb/sec. But when I save it as source (it a .wmv file) and play it in window media it says right at the bottom of screen 1064 kb/sec that's three different kb/sec! |

Variable bit rate?
That and audio bit-rate is configured in there at some point too... |

Wild guess:
1. Maximum video bit rate 2. Video + audio bit rate 3. Average video bit rate |
