Bizarre happenings with QuickTime

I've got something strange going on with QuickTime that I hope someone can help solve. First, I'll have to give you some facts:

1. I live in Tokyo
2. My server is in California.
3. On my web page, I put the "QuickTime Required" graphic and simply linked it to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download.
4. A couple of my friends in the U.S. clicked the "QuickTime Required" graphic and were taken to the "Japanese" QuickTime download page! (What the heck?!)
5. They simply selected "English" as the language version and downloaded from that page...BUT had trouble watching any QuickTime movies until they dumped all their QT files, went back to the U.S. QT download site and redownloaded it all again.

WHAT is going on here? There's absolutely nothing in that link to designate "Japanese" or that I live in Japan. Here's the actual link:

a href="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" target="_blank"

Any ideas what kind of voodoo Apple is using to pull this off? And how to turn it off?

John

John,

I went to your site and clicked the link you put up there and
I got on the US site right-away. So I think the problem might
be on your friends PC's somehow. It might also be that I tried
another link on your site? Perhaps it might be wise to post the
direct URL to the page that contains that QuickTime link so that
we can take a look at it.

Cheers!

Hi Rob,

The link I used is

href="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/"

The mystery continues...one friend in Texas and one in Kentucky, neither of which have ever been to Japan nor have any Japanese software on their computers, clicked the QuickTime download link and were taken to the Japanese QuickTime download site.

I'm completely at a loss on this one.

John,

You misunderstand me probably. Can you post a link to YOUR
PAGE that CONTAINS that link? I can then try and follow that
link and see what happens here on my system. If I copy and
paste the link you give above everything works fine.

Cheers,
