How to check NOTAMs
Let's say you would like to film tornado damage with your drone.
Go to AirNav.com and under the airports - browse airports by state and find an airport near the site. Enter the latitude and longitude in the NOTAM search here: https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov/PilotWe...earchAction.do Click view NOTAMs and see if there are any that might be relevant to your planned mission, e.g.: !FDC 5/6229 ZAU IL..AIRSPACE ROCHELLE, IL..TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS WITHIN AN AREA DEFINED AS 3NM RADIUS OF 415630N0891021W (ROCKFORD VOR/DME RFD175017) SFC-5000FT TORNADO DISASTER RELIEF. PURSUANT TO 14 CFR SECTION 91.137(A)(2) TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT. ONLY RELIEF AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS UNDER DIRECTION OF ILLINOIS EMA ARE AUTHORIZED IN THE AIRSPACE. ROBERT THORPE, ILLINOIS EMA, TELEPHONE 217-494-6962, IS IN CHARGE OF ON SCENE EMERGENCY RESPONSE ACTIVITY. CHICAGO /ZAU/ ARTCC, TELEPHONE 630-906-8341, IS THE FAA COORDINATION FACILITY. 1504101943-1504121700 |
